(Gruver)– Authorities now say the deaths of a Gruver couple may have been the result of a murder-suicide.
Emmet county sheriff’s deputies were called to 203 Second Avenue in Gruver around 8:18 a.m. Monday after getting a 911 call. Upon entering the residence they found the bodies of Marvin Cox and Laura Cox…both 74-years-old. Marvin Cox was found on the kitchen floor; Laura Cox was in a chair in the living room.
Sheriff Larry LaMack says both had been shot with a .22 caliber rifle.
LaMack doesn’t believe anyone else was involved. He wouldn’t elaborate.
The incident remains under investigation by the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
