Charges Filed Against E’Ville Man In January Shooting

November 22, 2014

(Estherville)– An Estherville man has been charged with five felony counts following the investigation into a shooting in January.

29-year-old Luckas Joe Smith was charged with one count of second degree burglary, one count of first degree theft, one count of second degree theft, possession of a firearm as a felon, and intimidation with a dangerous weapon.

Estherville Police Chief Eric Milburn says officers searched Smith’s apartment on a search warrant Sunday and uncovered evidence connecting Smith to several recent crimes including a burglary at a jewelry store on January 22nd and the attempted theft of an ATV on January 21st.

The two weapons charges are the result of a shooting that occurred at Smith’s residence on January 22nd according to Estherville police.
