Local Airports Awarded State Funding

(Des Moines)– Some local airports will share in three million dollars in funding through the Iowa Department of Transportation’s State Aviation Program for 2007.

The program will provide nearly 2.4 million dollars for vertical infrastructure projects at eight commercial service airports and 12 general aviation airports in the state. An additional 688-thousand will provide funding for Airport Improvement Program projects.

Airports in our area awarded funding through the General Aviation Vertical Infrastructure program include Emmetsburg, which will get 6,448-dollars to rehabilitate a terminal and office; Humboldt will receive 58,650-dollars to install a fuel system and an automated fueling terminal; and the Rock Rapids Munipal Airport was awarded 12-thousand dollars to install a self-fueling credit card system.

The Milford Municipal Airport was awarded 10-thousand dollars through the Airport Improvement Program for pavement maintenance.
