(Spirit Lake)– There’s a bumper crop of Canadian Thistles in the region this year.
Dickinson County Weed Commissioner Dennis Sill reminds landowners they’re responsible for any noxious weeds on their property…even if they’re absentee landlords.
Sill says spraying is the best way to get rid of thistles and noxious weeds. He says digging or discing them up only spreads the seeds.
Sill says thistles are an especially bad problem this year because the cool spring and dry summer gave the weeds a head start on the grass that tend to shade the thistles and prevent them from growing.
