Dickinson Supervisors Discuss Options To Fill DL Examiner Position

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors voted five-to-nothing Tuesday to contract with a former county sheriff’s deputy to serve as a driver’s license examiner for the County Treasurer.

The Sheriff’s Office provided a deputy to serve in that capacity in the past, but had to discontinue the service due in part to an increased workload.

The supervisors Tuesday voted to contract with Bob Bringle, a former Dickinson county sheriff’s deputy, at a rate of 30-dollars an hour for five weeks without benefits for six and-a-half hours a week. The county hopes to have a full-time replacement hired by then. To get by in the interim July 12th, the supervisors voted to contract with Sioux county which will send an examiner here for 19-dollars an hour along with a percentage of fringe benefits and mileage.

The discussion didn’t stop there, though. Treasurer Linda Voss said the responsibilities of the driver’s license service continues to increase, and she wants to hear from supervisors as to what level of service the county should offer in the future. The board agreed to appoint a supervisor to work with Voss in coming up with a recommendation.
