(Spirit Lake)– The organization formerly known as the Great Lakes Corridor of Opportunity held its first annual meeting Tuesday.
Outgoing Chairman Shane Habben tells KUOO news the regional economic development organization has a new name. It’s the “Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation”.
The Iowa Great Lakes Corridor of Opportunity consisted of Clay and Dickinson counties. The new Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation encompasses Clay, Dickinson, Emmet and Buena Vista counties.
Habben hopes the expanded economic development group will lead to more political clout in getting grant money and economic clout in attracting new industry.
Habben served as Chairman of the group for two years. Steve Grell was installed as the new Chairman Tuesday.
The first ever Chairman’s Award for Community Service from the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation went to Clay County Supervisor Del Brockshus.
