SL Traffic Stop Results In Texas Teens Being Caught With Substance Alleged To Be Pot

(Spirit Lake)– A traffic stop in Spirit Lake Wednesday evening has resulted in two Texas teens getting caught with what’s alleged to be marijuana.

Spirit Lake police say an officer pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation around 8:44 p.m. A strong odor coming from the vehicle resulted in a subsequent search that turned up a green leafy substance alleged to be marijuana.

The occupants of the vehicle, two male juveniles from Irving, Texas, were taken into custody.

The driver was charged with speeding, operating while intoxicated…first offense; possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, marijuana; possession of a controlled substance, marijuana; prohibited acts; failure to affix a drug tax stamp; possession of drug paraphernalia and conspiracy.

The passenger was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, marijuana; possession of a controlled substance, marijuana; failure to affix a drug tax stamp; prohibited acts; conspiracy; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The two were transported to the Youth Emergency Services Facility in Cherokee.
