Royal Man Charged In Incident Resulting In Serious Injury To Former Girlfriend

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– Charges have been filed against a Royal man in connection with a domestic abuse incident early this (Monday) morning that left his former girlfriend seriously injured.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says it received a 911 call from a concerned citizen who reported 37-year-old George Harris was at his ex-girlfriend’s residence in Royal against a court order.

Upon arriving a sheriff’s deputy found the victim severely beaten. Harris was found hiding in a closet.

The victim was taken to Spencer Hospital and was later transferred to an undisclosed hospital with what’s described as life-threatening injuries.

Harris was arrested at the scene and charged for violating a no-contact order; domestic assault; and willful injury…a class “C” felony.

Harris is being held in the Clay county jail on a 19-thousand dollar cash bond.
