The Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation has received more private donations toward their effort to preserve 3,500 feet of lakefront on Big Spirit Lake. The University of Okoboji foundation has donated $55,138, the Spirit Lake Protective Association has donated $22,500, and the Okoboji Protective Association has donated $25,000. INHF president Mark Ackerson hopes federal and state money will pay for the bulk of the purchase of the Don and Nancy Yarns property. A special request for funding from the Iowa legislature will be made next year.
