Construction Gets Underway On 2nd Phase Of APAP Parking Lot

November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– Construction is slated to begin this week on the final stage of the environmentally friendly parking lot at the Arnolds Park Amusement Park. General Manager Scott Pyle says the project is intended to teach area contractors how to use more low-impact development practices on other sites in the area.

One element of the lot consists of porous concrete that will let water pass directly through it into a filtering base rather than running over the ground and eventually into the lake.

The project also includes a water monitoring system which will demonstrate effectiveness of the filtration system.

Other areas of the lot will feature a fountain, samples of different low-impact development materials, erosion resistant native grasses and education kiosks.

Training sessions are planned throughout the construction to educate contractors on proper low-impact development techniques.

The final phase of the project is slated for completion May 26th.
