Courthouse Demo Could Start Earlier Than First Thought

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Demolition of Dickinson county’s old courthouse may be able to start earlier than first thought.

Roger Gilbert, the county’s owner-representative on the courthouse project, told the board of supervisors Tuesday asbestos removal in the old courthouse was nearly half-done and the project was running ahead of schedule. If that continues, Gilbert said demolition of the old courthouse could get underway as early as the week of April 24th.

Gilbert said it’s his understanding the old 911 tower would probably come down first, followed by the building. Once demolition is complete, construction on the second phase of the new courthouse will get underway.
