Little Sioux Rezoning Request Draws Concern From Neighbors

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Planning and Zoning Commission voted four-to-one Monday to recommend the board of supervisors approve the rezoning of 35 acres of land owned by Gary Cohrs in Lakeville Township near the West Fork of the Little Sioux River from Agricultural to Suburban Residential.

They also voted to recommend the supervisors approve preliminary and final plats for a subdivision on that same land to be known as “Deer Run”. It will consist of six lots with single family duplexes. They’ll be served by private sewer systems, or septic tanks, with water provided by Osceola County Rural Water.

The proposed development is drawing opposition from neighbors concerned over traffic and other issues.

The board of supervisors will take up the P & Z’s recommendations at their meeting May 16th.
