Clay County Crash Injures Four

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A collision between two vehicles Thursday at an uncontrolled intersection in Clay county has sent four people to the hospital and landed one of the drivers in jail.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says the mishap took place around 2:00 p.m. at the intersection of 200th Avenue and 420th Street, just north of Rossie.

Authorities say 30-year-old Darin Titus of Graettinger was eastbound on 420th Street when he collided with 56-year-old Janet Yungbluth of Rossie, who was northbound on 200th Avenue.

Titus and a passenger in his vehicle, Michael Juchem of Graettinger, were taken to Spencer Hospital where they were treated and released. Another passenger in the Titus vehicle, Cory Heida of Spencer, suffered severe injuries and was life-flighted to another hospital for treatment. Youngbluth also had severe injuries and was life-flighted as well.

The vehicles were totaled.

Titus was charged with driving while suspended, having no insurance and failure to yield. He was also wanted on a Dickinson county arrest warrant.

Authorities say the crash remains under investigation and additional charges are pending.
