SL Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Charges

(Spirit Lake)– What started off as a routine traffic stop Saturday in Spirit Lake wound up with drug charges being filed against a Spirit Lake man and two male juveniles.

Spirit Lake police say an officer pulled over a pickup shortly before 2:00 p.m. Saturday. The department’s K-9 Unit, Zeke, conducted a search of the vehicle which turned up marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

The driver, 32-year-old Jeffrey Stoner of Spirit Lake, was arrested for operating while intoxicated, possession of a controlled substance…marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Dickinson county jail.

Two male juveniles…a 17-year-old from Spirit Lake and a 16-year-old from Arnolds Park…were charged with possession of a controlled substance…marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were released to the custody of their parents.

Authorities say a search warrant was executed as part of the investigation, which continues.
