(Undated)– Two Dickinson county school boards will have new faces on them following Tuesday’s school board elections.
In the Terril School District, incumbent Craig Van Ehwegen won re-election to one of two open seats. He received 28 votes. The other seat will be filled by Eugene Buhr who received 21 votes. Challenger Tim Roth had 10 votes. Incumbent Jodi Oleson didn’t file for re-election.
In the Okoboji School District, Laurie Simington will be a newcomer to the board. She ran unopposed for a seat vacated by Mike Chozen, who didn’t file for re-election.
All other races in Dickinson county were uncontested as well.
In the Harris-Lake School District, voters overwhelmingly approved a measure to reallocate how proceeds from the Local Option Sales Tax are spent to include vehicles and equipment. 75 voted in favor while only 24 were opposed.
In Emmet county, Paul Stevens defeated Gregory Buum for a seat on the Armstrong-Ringsted school board. Stevens received 383 votes while Buum had 110. All the other races were uncontested.
In Palo Alto county, three people were running for two open seats on the Ruthven-Ayrshire board. Susan Sikora received 108 votes and Barry Fisher had 95, defeating Tracy Enderson who received 41 votes. In the West Bend-Mallard district, four people were running for two open seats. The winners were incumbents Doug Schwartzkopf and Vera Banwart.
There were no contested races in Clay county.
