(Des Moines)– For the second year in a row, Clay and Dickinson counties have lost out in their efforts to become an Iowa Great Place. They were among 35 locations throughout the state to submit proposals.
The Iowa Great Places Board Thursday announced the 12 finalists for the Iowa Great Places Program. None are from northwest Iowa.
This is the second year for the program, aimed at improving the quality of life in Iowa and to spur tourism and help communities attract more business.
The Iowa Great Places Board will visit the sites that are listed as finalists next month. The winners will be announced October 27th.
