Citizens Urged To Act As “Erosion Police”

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Now that we’ve had our first heavy rain event of the season and with more likely to come, Steve Anderson, an Urban Conservationist with the Dickinson County Soil and Water Conservation District is urging contractors and landowners to take the necessary precautions to prevent erosion from getting into the lakes.

Anderson says contractors need to make sure their silt fences are in place and doing what they’re supposed to.

Anderson says anyone who sees large amounts of silt and other pollution getting into the lakes to report it as soon as possible by contacting the DNR’s regional office in Spencer.

Anderson says contractors that have questions on how they can further prevent erosion and run-off should contact him at 336-3782, extension three.
