(Spencer)– An Emmetsburg man faces firearm, drug and traffic charges following a traffic stop around 11:30 p.m. Monday in Spencer.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation. Upon approaching the vehicle, the deputy noticed a knife sticking out of the pocket on the back side of the driver’s seat. The deputy had the driver get out of the vehicle and retrieved the knife.
Upon searching the vehicle, the deputy found a sawed-off shotgun under the driver’s seat.
The driver, 19-year-old Mark Keniston of Emmetsburg, was placed under arrest.
A further search of the vehicle turned up drug paraphernalia.
A passenger, 19-year-old Robert Webb of Emmetsburg, was cited for underage possession of alcohol and was released.
Keniston was booked into the Clay county jail on charges of operating without registration; violation of a gun conveyance law–carrying an assembled unsheathed firearm; possession of drug paraphernalia; carrying a concealed weapon; and carrying an offensive weapon.
Keniston is being held on five thousand dollars bond.
