Local Scouts Mount Effort To Assist Fellow Scouts Who Were Victims In Little Sioux Tornado

November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– Local Boy Scouts are doing their part to help fellow scouts and their families who were victims of Wednesday night’s tragedy at the Little Sioux Boy Scout Ranch near Little Sioux.

A tornado that ripped through camp leveled everything in its path. It claimed the lives of four young Boy Scouts and injured more than 40 others…some seriously.

Joe Gamble is an Eagle Scout with lakes area Boy Scout Troop #170. He says the reality of what happened is hitting real close to home. He says there very easily could have been scouts from lakes area troops there, as some have camped there in the past.

A member of a Spencer troop, 14-year-old Daniel Vosberg, son of Bob and Carol Vosberg of Spencer, was at the camp Wednesday evening when the tornado hit. He escaped uninjured.

Gamble says Troop #170 is raising money to assist fellow scouts and their families affected by the tragedy. Donations may be sent to Troop #170; P.O. Box 485; Arnolds Park…51331.

Gamble says they’re encouraging everyone to send donations by Monday, but he says they’ll still accept them after that.

Gamble says he had never been at the Little Sioux Camp himself, but he says he’s been told about how special it was by fellow scouts who had been there before.
