$10M Fertilizer Facility To Be Built In SW Minnesota

November 22, 2014

(Brewster, Mn.)– A groundbreaking ceremony will be held Tuesday (July 1st) on a new 10 million dollar state-of-the-art dry fertilizer terminal to be built just west of the New Vision grain elevator in Brewster, Minnesota.

Frank McDowell of New Vision Co-op says the plant will be operational one year from now.

McDowell says it will be capable of blending up to 500 tons of fertilizer per hour.

The computer-controlled terminal will cover roughly 1.5 acres under one roof, with the capacity to receive 100 car trains of fertilizer, unload 10,000 tons of fertilizer within 15 hours, load out 700 tons per hour and store up to 45,000 tons on site.

Over the facility’s first five years of operation, about 30 part-time and full-time employees are expected to be hired.

Stueve Construction of Algona is the general contractor on the project.
