(St. Paul, Mn.)– Minnesota pollution regulators are traveling the state to hear from livestock farmers about feedlots.
The informal meetings cover proposed changes in large feedlot permits. An official public comment period will open later this year.
More than 1,000 large farm operations in the state have permits under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System.
Changes would affect the way farmers can use manure, dispose of dead animals and handle runoff water. They would start in 2011.
A meeting in Jackson is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 24th, in the Community Room at the Jackson County Resource Center.
