Corridor Reps. Meet With D.O.T Commissioners

(Sioux City)– A delegation of 18 people from the Iowa Lakes Corridor region traveled to Sioux City Tuesday to present priority projects and updates to Iowa Department of Transportation commissioners during their public input meeting.

Kathy Evert, President and CEO of the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation, introduced the Corridor region to the commissioners and staff and outlined priorities for the region. They include: completion of U.S. Highway 20 west of Fort Dodge to Correctionville; completion of the Highway Four reconstruction project south of Estherville from Highway Nine to the Union Pacific Railroad bridge; completion of the upgrade of Highway 86 from Highway Nine north to the Minnesota border; installing a signaled railroad crossing on County Road C-29 in Albert City adjacent to an ethanol plant; and significantly improving the roadway, shoulders and constructing a turn lane to Superior Ethanol on Highway Nine in Superior.

The presentation also included an update on the West Spencer Beltway.

The corridor’s delegation consisted of representatives from Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson and Emmet counties, along with State Representative Mike May of Spirit Lake and Senator David Johnson of Ocheyedan.
