(Des Moines)– The Iowa Auditor’s office has released a report on a local family support agency that showed three loans totaling 64-thousand dollars that weren’t authorized by the agency’s board.
The report, released Monday, looks at a review of Upper Des Moines Opportunity, Incorporated between October 2004 and September 2007. The agency provides services to the working poor in 12 Iowa counties, including Dickinson.
The report said the agency does not administer loans. It says the loans involved interest on federal funds, which is not an allowable use of the funds.
The audit also showed 15-thousand dollars in disbursements were made to a former agency employee under a contract for consulting services, although the employee could not provide documents showing the services were provided.
