(Sioux City)– Four northwest Iowa men who conspired to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine have been sentenced in federal court.
40-year-old Michael Roth of Spencer, 44-year-old Douglas Johnson of Primghar, 40-year-old Philip Schurke of Hull and 29-year-old Gary Wilson, Junior of Hartley pled guilty in September 2008 to one count of conspiracy to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine and one count of traveling in interstate commerce to purchase pseudoephedrine in furtherance of the drug conspiracy.
According to court documents, between March 2002 and August 31st, 2007 the four men conspired to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine and distribute and possess pseudoephedrine with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine in O’Brien and Clay counties. The men traveled throughout Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and South Dakota to obtain pseudoephedrine to use in making meth.
The documents say Roth also possessed firearms as a felon and unlawful user of controlled substances.
Roth was sentenced to 248 months’ imprisonment and a 10-year term of supervised release; Johnson was sentenced to 240 months’ imprisonment and a 10-year term of supervised release; Schurke was sentenced to 36 months’ imprisonment and a three-year term of supervised release; and Wilson was sentenced to 120 months’ imprisonment and a five-year term of supervised release.
They all received 200-dollar special assessments as well.
