Arnolds Park Mayor & Council Urge Milford & Supervisors To Continue Dialogue Over Lower Gar

November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– A lakes area city that isn’t a direct player in the controversy between Dickinson county and the city of Milford over the Lower Gar Outlet is urging the two entities to continue their dialogue.

Arnolds Park Mayor Mike Mitchell asked his city council Wednesday to pass a resolution to that affect, saying that while Arnolds Park isn’t a direct player in the matter, that is does have a vested interest in that the city is surrounded by five lakes…including Lower Gar and West Lake Okoboji.

Mitchell presented the council with a resolution that reads “We, the city of Arnolds Park, recommend and encourage continued communication and cooperation between the City of Milford and the Dickinson County Board of Supervisors regarding water quality and water shed drainage issues that are so important to all of us throughout the Iowa Great Lakes region.”

Following some discussion, the council, with one member absent, voted unanimously to adopt the resolution.

Channels of communication between Milford and the Board of Supervisors appeared to open a little more at a meeting the two entities held Monday evening in Spirit Lake. They’ll meet again in a joint session during Monday’s (April 13th) Milford city council meeting.
