(Spencer)– Health officials say they’ll offer measles vaccination clinics to people who think they may have been exposed to a child in the area who has the disease.
Spencer Hospital Community Health Services held one clinic last (Thurs.) night and is holding another today (Friday).
The Iowa Department of Public Health says officials are working to determine how the child was exposed and who the child may have exposed to the illness.
Symptoms of Measles include a fever, cough, red or pink eyes, runny nose and a rash. It can cause pneumonia, deafness and in rare cases death.
Health officials say Measles is highly contagious and people should make sure they’re up to date on their vaccinations. To be fully vaccinated, a person should have two doses of the vaccine.
The Iowa Department of Public Health and local health officials have identified places the child visited while infectious and times people may have been exposed. They are as follows:

Spencer Indoor Soccer Complex (Easter Egg Hunt) from 8:30 a.m. to Noon.
Dayspring Assembly of God Church from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Longhouse Nursing Home Noon to 2:30 p.m.;
Spencer Burger King from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Spencer Wal-Mart from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Sunday, April 12th:
The Junction Church service in Spencer from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Spencer Burger King from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Spencer Hy-Vee grocery store from 11:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Longhouse Nursing Home in Spencer from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Spencer Burger King from 1:00 until 5:30 p.m.
Spencer Hospital Emergency Room from 8:00 p.m. to midnight.
Wednesday, April 15th:
Avera Health-Spencer Family Care from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
