Fire Damages A House In Lake Park

November 22, 2014

(Lake Park)– A fire Wednesday damaged the kitchen of a house in Lake Park.

Lake Park Fire Chief Brandon Ehret says the Lake Park Fire Department was called to 302 South Railroad Street in Lake Park shortly after 3:30 p.m. Upon arriving firefighters found a fire burning in the corner of the kitchen.

Ehret says the blaze originated in a toaster on top of a microwave, which was also on fire.

Ehret says firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze and kept it from spreading to the walls and surrounding areas of the kitchen.

Moderate smoke damage was reported to the rest of the house.

Ehret says no one was in the house at the time of the fire, but a female occupant was out raking the yard. Ehret says she discovered what was going on when a smoke detector started going off. He says the fire could have been much worse if it wasn’t for that.

Lake Park firefighters were assisted on the scene by the Lake Park Police Department and Lake Park Utilities.
