NW Iowa Woman Charged With Child Endangerment Now Faces More Charges

November 22, 2014

(George)– A northwest Iowa woman charged with child endangerment in what authorities says was a hammer attack on her five-year-old son faces more charges.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says Nikki Moreno of George is also charged with willful injury and serious assault.

The boy was treated for lacerations to the head from multiple blows from possibly the claw end of a hammer. The child suffered other injuries as well.

The Sheriff’s Office says Moreno faces the willful injury charge for allegedly hitting her son with the hammer several times. The serious assault charge was filed because Moreno allegedly pushed him down a flight of stairs, bit his arm, hit him with a belt and burned him.

Moreno’s husband, Juan Carlos Moreno, also is charged with child endangerment.
