Funeral Services Set For Local Soldier Killed In Iraq

(Hartley)– The funeral for an army soldier killed last weekend in Iraq will be this Saturday (May 2nd) in Hartley.

The military says 28-year-old Sgt. Leroy Webster was shot while on patrol near Kirkuk on April 25th. Webster was born in 1980 in Spencer and grew up in Hartley. He also lived in Sioux Falls.

Webster’s funeral is set for 10:00 a.m. Saturday (May 2nd) at the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn High School in Hartley.

Arrangements are being handled by Hartley Funeral Home.

Webster was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division out of Fort Hood, Texas.

Webster is survived by his wife, Jessica and three daughters and his parents.
