(Spencer)– A Spirit Lake woman has been hired as full-time Health and Safety Services Director for the Iowa Great Lakes area chapter of the American Red Cross.
Cindy Voss began in the position today (Friday). She is based out of the Spencer office.
Voss has worked in the past for the YMCA system and served many service organizations and non-profit agencies in the region.
Bill Campbell, Exuective Director of the local Red Cross chapter, says the organization’s board developed the new position to help meet requirements of new legislation in the “Healthy Kids Act”.
In addition, Campbell says Voss will provide the additional manpower that’s been needed since two additional counties were added to the local chapter’s service area.
Voss’ duties will include working with chapter instructors, aquatic and training facilities and with those wishing to take Red Cross courses.
Campbell says the local American Red Cross chapter is also offering to teach CPR to area high school students, another requirement of the “Healthy Kids Act”. He says the Red Cross will assist districts in obtaining funding through community organizations to purchase training materials.
