E’Ville Police File Multiple Charges Against Two Men In Connection With Recent Burglaries

November 22, 2014

(Estherville)– Estherville police believe they’ve solved a rash of burglaries and other crimes that took place in that community and possibly others in the area during the months of February, March and April.

Police Chief Eric Milburn says thanks to an investigation by his department and information from the public, two men face multiple charges.

18-year-old Michael Mireles of Estherville was arrested and charged with four counts of burglary in the third degree and one count of identity theft in connection with several burglaries on the north side of Estherville. Mireles is also accused of using a stolen credit card at a local business.

Milburn says Mireles was on pretrial release on bond from two other unrelated arrests for criminal mischief. He’s being held in the Emmet county jail on the new charges on bond of 32,500-dollars.

In addition, Milburn says 20-year-old Manuel Cantu, also of Estherville, has been charged with 10 counts of burglary in the third degree, one count of identity theft, one count of criminal mischeif in the fifthe degree, and one count of arson in the second degree. Milburn says a warrant has been issued for Cantu’s arrest, who currently is at-large.

Like Mireles, Milburn says Cantu was also on pretrial release for one count of aggravated assault involving a weapon, and harrassment.

Officers believe Mireles and Cantu may be responsible for other crimes outside of Estherville and are assisting other law enforcement agencies in their investigations.
