(Undated)– A number of local law enforcement agencies are taking part in a special enforcement effort over the Memorial Day holiday period.
The special enforcement of seatbelt laws, part of the national Click It or Ticket Campaign, gets underway today (Monday) and continues through Sunday, May 31st.
Officials with the Iowa Department of Public Safety say there were 412 motor vehicle fatalities in Iowa in 2008 and of those, 139 weren’t wearing seatbelts.
Officials say the campaign will also target impaired drivers and speeders.
