Blaze Destroys Two Sheds, Damages Garage Near Lake Park

November 22, 2014

(Lake Park)– A fire Monday destroyed two small sheds and damaged a garage at a farm site near Lake Park.

Lake Park Fire Chief Brandon Ehret says firefighters were called to the Bob Krebs residence at 1173 150th Avenue. Upon arriving Ehret says they found two small sheds had been completely destroyed and an adjacent garage was on fire. He says firefighters were able to extinguish the garage, preserving its contents. Another small building to the north of that sustained roof damage due to falling embers. It also had a small fire in it, but firefighters were able to put it out.

Ehret says some small fires had also started in a grove, fanned by a south wind.

The Spirit Lake Fire Department was called for assistance in hauling water and for manpower. Ehret says firefighters had to pump water from the Little Sioux River and haul it to the scene.

Ehret says the blaze was caused by some seed bags being burned in the yard.

No injuries were reported.

A dollar amount of damage wasn’t immediately available.

Dickinson County Emergency Management and the Lake Park ambulance assisted on the scene.
