City Of Milford, Dickinson Co. Try To Reach Concensus On Lower Gar Outlet

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– It appears a compromise of sorts may have been reached between the Milford city council and Dickinson county board of supervisors over what should be done about the Lower Gar Outlet.

It came during another meeting of the two entities Thursday evening that went on for nearly two hours and was attended by about a hundred people.

A motion by councilman Mike Anderson for the city and county to study the impacts of an option installing additional culverts six inches higher than the weir, or dam, with the study preferably being done by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers along with a third party engineer, and that an environmental study be conducted. The motion passed four-to-one, with councilman Keith Feller voting no.

Feller had made a previous motion for nothing at all to be done at the outlet. It died for lack of a second.

The supervisors didn’t vote on Anderson’s motion, siting procedural questions they have over a motion made on the outlet structure back on April 24th, 2007. They say that motion would have to be rescinded in order to act on the new one. The issue will be put on the agenda for their meeting this coming Tuesday, May 26th.
