Spencer Men Sentenced On Federal Meth Charges

November 22, 2014

(Sioux City)– Two Spencer men have been sentenced on federal meth charges.

28-year-old Orlando Escobar-Quintanilla was sentenced to 14 years in prison after pleading guilty in January of this year to one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, three counts of distributing meth, and eight counts of using a communication device in facilitating the distribution of methamphetamine.

30-year-old Elio Torres-Marin of Spencer was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty in January of this year to one count of distribution of methamphetamine and one count of using a minor to distribute methamphetamine.

According to court documents, the two men conspired to distribute over two pounds of meth in the Spencer area between December, 2006 and April of last year.

Federal prosecutors say Escobar-Quintanilla organized the conspiracy and supervised the storage and distribution of the methamphetamine, which came from Texas. They say Torres-Marin distributed the meth for Escobar-Quintanilla.

Both men are being held in the custody of a U.S. Marshal pending transport to a federal prison.
