Officials Say Tall Corn May Have Been Factor In Personal Injury Collision

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– Officials say a visibility problem caused by tall corn may have been a factor in a two-vehicle collision east of Everly Wednesday evening that sent one person to the hospital.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 7:45 p.m. at the intersection of 330th Street and 160th Avenue two miles east of Everly.

Authorities say Donald Sarvie of Spencer was northbound on 160th Avenue and Andrew Thiner of Everly was westbound on 330th Street when the two collided.

Deputies say the impact of the collision caused the vehicle driven by Sarvie to slide sideways, coming to rest in the middle of the road. The vehicle driven by Thiner slid sideways into the north ditch where it rolled once, coming to rest on its wheels.

Thiner was taken by ambulance to Spencer Hospital. There was no word on the extent of his injuries or condition.

No injuries were reported to Sarvie.

10-thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a 2001 Dodge pickup driven by Sarvie; damage to a 1998 Pontiac driven by Thiner was estimated at four thousand dollars.
