Black Hills Energy Says Lower Natural Gas Prices May Be In Store For Upcoming Heating Season

November 22, 2014

Omaha, NEB.– Black Hills Energy officials say the company will be passing along to consumers some of its savings from lower prices for natural gas.

Black Hills Energy is based in Rapids City, S.D. and serves a large part of northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota.

Compared with last winter, Black Hills projects a savings of about 25 percent on the gas usage portion of bills.

But company spokesman Bob McKeon cautions that Black Hills has bought only about 55 percent of what it will need this heating season, Nov. 1-March 31.

Although gas prices have dropped 78 percent since peaking last year, they could rise over the next few months, depending on an improving economy raising demand and damage or disruption from any gulf coast hurricanes.
