(Spirit Lake)– A study into the feasibility of sharing services between various governmental entities in Dickinson county has new life.
While efforts at getting a similar study completed in the past have stopped short, a representative of the Dickinson County Taxpayers Association told the board of supervisors Tuesday they’re ready to proceed with a formal study with Iowa State University Research.
Preliminary meetings have already been held with ISU Research officials, representatives of the Taxpayer’s Association and County Supervisor Pam Jordan.
Phil Petersen, President of the Dickinson County Taxpayers Association, told the supervisors Tuesday ISU Research will conduct the study at a cost of 17,528-dollars, with the Taxpayers Association picking up the tab.
Petersen says they plan to form a three-person committee consisting of two representatives from the Taxpayers Association and one from the board of supervisors to oversee the study with ISU Research.
Petersen said the study would likely take six to eight months to complete and would not only look at the county’s resources, but those of the cities, school districts and Sanitary Sewer District as well.
The supervisors deferred action on the matter to their next meeting October 6th pending completion of some more detailed written agreements.
