Clay County To Begin Offering H1N1 Vaccine To Priority Groups

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– Public health officials in Clay county say they plan to begin offering H1N1 vaccine to more targeted groups.

Clay County Public Health Nurse Colette Rossiter says the county received another small shipment of the vaccine this (Tuesday) afternoon. As a result, she says an immunization clinic has been scheduled for Thursday, October 22nd from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m,. (or until the supply is depleted) at Avera Spencer Family Care. Again, the clinic is strictly for those who meet the priority group: pregnant women, parents, siblings and day care providers of infants under six months of age.

No appointment is necessary and there will be no charge for the vaccine.

Rossiter says they still have not received enough vaccine to take care of all those in the identified priority groups, including those with chronic medical conditions.

Still no word as to when any H1N1 vaccination clinics will be held in Dickinson county, which apparently is receiving its vaccine at a slower pace.
