Clarification On Proposed No-Wake Rule Change

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– We have a clarification to make regarding a story that aired earlier this week. It pertains to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources taking public comment on a proposed rule change for no-wake zones, defining speed restrictions for those areas to five miles-per-hour.

A five mile-per-hour limit is already in effect within 300 feet of shoreline on all lakes in Dickinson county. It took effect August 4th of this year.

A DNR news release failed to mention the new rule for which the agency is currently taking public comment pertains only to artificial lakes and artificial marshes.
