SLHS Students Selected For Iowa All-State Band And Chorus

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Three Spirit Lake High School students have attained the highest individual honor available to Iowa High School musicians by being selected as members of the 2010 All-State Music Festival.

Chosen for the All-State Chorus were senior Emily Ayres, daughter of Rick Ayres and Carol Ayres; and senior Jack Goodlaxson, son of Tom and Janey Goodlaxson.

Chosen for the All-State Band was sophomore Lauren Shell on bariton saxophone, son of Gregg and Mo Shell.

Lauren is the first baritone saxophone player from Spirit Lake to be chosen in the history of All-State.

Auditions were held this past Saturday in Storm Lake.

The students selected represent 1.5% of Iowa High School musicians.

Participants will rehearse in Ames later in November and present the festival concert November 20th.
