OHS Speech Coach Honored

(Milford)– A special honor for a Speech coach at Okoboji High School.

Kimberly Witt is this year’s recipient of the Richard Riggleman Young Speech Coach Award.

The award was presented to Witt October 16th at the Iowa High School Speech Association Coaches Convention. It consists of one thousand dollars a year, renewable for two consecutive years, for a total of three thousand dollars.

Witt is the 16th recipient of the award.

Qualifications for the award include a commitment to coaching speech, large group events, individual events, and/or debate; demonstrate excellence in coaching speech; and past experience in high school or college speech activities.

The Richard Riggleman Young Speech Coach Award was established by Riggleman, who’s from Deloit, Iowa, to reward a second-year Iowa High School Speech Coach.

Witt, who’s a graduate of Pomeroy-Palmer High School in Pomeroy, is in her second year of teaching at Okoboji High School.
