Authorities Investigate Plane Crash SW Of Milford

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– Authorities are on the scene of a plane crash late this (Wed.) afternoon southwest of Milford.

KUOO news has learned a small plane has crashed into a field in the area of 250th Street between 160th and 170th Avenues. Debris is said to be scattered in that area and a part of the wreckage was reportedly spotted in an area just to the west of that.

The vicinity has been cordoned off.

Details are still very sketchy. It isn’t known how many people were on board the plane and whether there have been any fatalities. Information on the type of plane and its make and model also weren’t immediately available.

KUOO news has learned authorities were called to the area around 2:00 or so this (Wed.) afternoon after the Dickinson County Communications Center started getting calls from people in that area who reported hearing a plane with an engine that cut out, followed by what was described by several as being a loud boom.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol and Dickinson County Emergency Management are on the scene. Officials with the Federal Aviation Administration have also been contacted.

We will have additional details as they become available.
