(Spirit Lake)– A local taxpayer group wants the Dickinson County Council of Governments (COG) reactivated.
The council hasn’t convened for years, but the taxpayers association wants it started up again to look into a possible sharing of services among the various governmental entities in Dickinson county.
The Dickinson county board of supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday in favor of a Taxpayers Association proposal to once again start the COG.
Under the Taxpayer Association proposal, the COG meetings would be facilitated by Cory Peterson, who worked previously with the Iowa State University Extension Service. The association has also agreed to cover the expense of the program for the first year, with the intent of finding a longer term funding source.
Representatives of the association will now be approaching individual city councils to see if they’re interested in restarting the COG.
