Lyon County Crash Injures Man

November 22, 2014

(George)– A single-vehicle rollover Wednesday in Lyon county injured a Sibley man.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says 25-year-old Solomon Carey of Sibley was westbound on a county road about a mile east of George when he swerved to miss a deer in the roadway. The 2003 Ford Explorer he was driving went into the south ditch and overturned atleast once, landing on its wheels. It then collided with a utility pole.

Carey, who was alone in the vehicle, was transported to the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley where he was treated and released.

The vehicle was totaled. No damage was reported to the utility pole.

Carey told deputies he thought he hit the deer, but authorities say that is unfounded as of now.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the George Fire Department, George Rescue and the Lyon County Ambulance.

The crash took place around 6:00 a.m. Wednesday.
