Future Of Clay Central-Everly School District May Be In State’s Hands

November 22, 2014

(Everly)– State officials will be taking a closer look at spending by the Clay Central-Everly School District.

The district has spent more money than authorized, and its former Superintendent had charged $25,000 in personal expenses to a school credit card.

A review of the Clay Central-Everly books shows the district has exceeded its budget in six of the past 12 years.

A 2007 state law gave state education officials authority to close districts that exceed authorized spending for two consecutive years.

Clay Central-Everly has fewer than 400 students.
