(Des Moines)– Two local residents will be playing special roles in the inauguration of Terry Branstad as Iowa’s next Governor.
Vergene Donovan of Spirit Lake has been selected as one of 38 “Honorary Colonels of the Militia” for the ceremony, and George Moriarty of Spencer has been selected as a member of the inaugural committee.
As an Honorary Colonel, Donovan will be honored at a commissioning ceremony in Hy-Vee Hall in Des Moines at 8:00 a.m. January 14th.
Honorary Colonels are individuals who are highly respected in their communities and are described as being honest, caring and willing.
