(Spencer)– Authorities say icy conditions may have been a contributing factor in a single-vehicle crash this (Thursday) morning east of Spencer that sent one person to the hospital.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 35-year-old Alana Heying of Dickens was westbound on 350th Street when she lost control just west of the railroad tracks. The vehicle went into the north ditch and rolled onto its side.
Heying had to be extricated from the wreckage by Dickens Fire and Rescue. Heying was then taken by ambulance to Spencer Hospital. There was no immediate information on the nature of her injuries or condition.
Authorities say the road was 100 percent ice-covered at the time.
A 1999 Ford Explorer Heying was driving was totaled.
The crash took place around 8:20 a.m.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by Dickens Fire and Rescue, the Spencer ambulance and paramedics and EMS First Responders.
