(Ashton)– A search warrant executed Wednesday on a residence in Ashton has resulted in charges against two people.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office says deputies obtained the warrant after receiving information of a sexual assault and drug use at the residence at 321 East 3rd Street.
During the course of the search, deputies turned up multiple smoking devices, baggies with what’s alleged to be marijuana in them and seeds believed to be marijuana seeds.
33-year-old Melissa Bergstrom of Ashton was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of prescription drugs…both serious misdemeanors.
32-year-old Jason Bergstrom…also of Ashton…was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of prescription drugs…serious misdemeanors; and possession of drug paraphernalia…a simple misdemeanor.
Further investigation into a sexual assault resulted in authorities discovering Jason Bergstrom was a registered sex offender in Minnesota. He was then additionally charged with failure to register as a sex offender…an aggravated misdemeanor; and two counts of sexual abuse in the third degree…a class “C” felony.
Jason Bergstrom was booked into the Osceola county jail on a $24,300 cash bond; Melissa Bergstrom was booked into jail on a $2,000 cash bond.
