(Superior)– A single-vehicle rollover Thursday at the intersection of Highways 9 and 71 east of Spirit Lake, or the Jackson “Y”, sent one person to the hospital.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says 62-year-old Rogert Mitchell of Superior was eastbound on Highway 9 when the brakes on his 1994 Chevrolet pickup failed. To avoid a collision with turning traffic, Mitchell swerved onto the shoulder. The pickup then went into the south ditch where it rolled.
Mitchell, who was alone in the vehicle, was taken to Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake where he was treated for non-incapacitating injuries.
Damage to the pickup was estimated at $2,500.
The incident took place shortly after 3:30 p.m.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Superior Fire Department and the Lakes Regional Healthcare ambulance and paramedics.
